Only in Mexico - Hot water

Only in Mexico does Errin ask "What side is the hot water on right now?" every time before she showers. Now you may be thinking "how can Errin not remember that the hot water is always on the left side, what a slinky," but allow me to explain...

From about 4 am until about 12 pm every day we get water from the city. This is when the pressure is good and the hot water is controlled by the right knob.

From about 12 pm on every day our water comes from a 1,100 liter storage tank on the roof that is filled in the morning. This is when the pressure isn't so great and the hot water is controlled by the left knob.

So you see when Errin asks "What side is the hot water on?" she's really asking "What time is it?"

Only in Mexico - Sexy Milk Version

We like us some boxed milk for its 6 month shelf life and it just happens to be an added bonus that our favorite brand comes with different women showing me the body I can have if I will drink their sexy milk.

Does it make me feel sexier? I think it does.

Only in Mexico Tuesdays

Only in Mexico1 can a guy (Brent) be in the deodorant isle casually sniffing for his next underarm scent when another clearly heterosexual man, also in the deodorant isle letting his nose guide him to his next man smell comes over to the guy with two choices in hand and says "Which one do you think smells better?"

The guy responds with "Personally, I like this one better," while holding the blue one.

Heterosexual man agrees with "I thought so too, it smells more masculine huh?"

"Si" mutters the guy trying to get away from an unexpected dialogue in the deodorant isle.

Stay tuned for the next installment of "Only in Mexico Tuesdays."

twins?

almost everyday someone tells us that brent and jones are twins... they look so much alike...

... the primary classes in our ward did these for fathers day... so they slipped me one for jones to do while brent was busy with youngmens... it was so hard to outline his little hands, but it will be so fun to see how much they grow...

this is the pinata that we had for the fathers day party... so different... the whole idea of a pinata is to get candy... right?.... that is what we thought until going to a few ward parties here... this is the fourth pinata we have done when there is no candy inside... you just beat up the pinata to see who can hit harder...

.... even funnier... i didnt have my camera with me for the mothers day ward party... and i wish i would have... we were dying laughing... all the moms were in line to beat up a "husband" pinata... i guess someone in our ward has a friend that makes whatever kind of pinata you want... so the priesthood had a guy pinata with an apron and a broom in hand made for all the women of the ward... i will try to quote our bishop... he said something like, "gracias to all the women of the ward and your hard work as being mothers, ahora, get in linea to TAKE OUT YOUR FRUSTRATIONS on this pinata"... brent and i were laughing so hard at the women... as each one got up, someone would yell their spouses name, and say watch out... or something like that...

anyhow... the men got to beat up a truck... we joked why not a woman pinata... but that would have looked really bad...

mirror mirror...

i had a lot to do for work the other day... so i surrounded jones with pillows and toys so i could get a solid hour in... rather than 20 minutes here and there... he was so happy playing and then i heard him talking and babbeling as if someone was right there playing with him... i looked over and was laughing at how cute he was being... i had placed this mirror by him, but out of reach... he got close enough to it to pull it as close to his face as he could get it and was just talking away... to the baby in the mirror... it was so cute!!!

que significa ser papa

1. The father of our home leads our family

With wisdom’s light in all that’s right;

My father’s good to me.

Fathers are so special with a very special love.

They watch us and protect us.

They guide us and direct us

Back to our home above.

2. The father of our ward tends with loving care

Each member’s needs with kindly deeds;

Our bishop’s always there.

3. And now we’ll sing great praise and rev’rently recall

The Holy One who gave his Son,

The Father of us all.

written by Dawn Hughes Ballantyne and Joyce Mills Jensen

as i was searching for something to help me express what i wanted to say to fathers on this special day, many different articles came up... and something i found to be interesting is that they all included something about our Heavenly Father...the love He has for us, the example He is for us, the plan of salvation that He has made possible for us...

it made me think of how special fathers are... and the similarities that they have with our Father in Heaven... they too love us very much and want our lives to be everything beautiful and wonderful that they can be... they want us to be our best and do everything we can to return to live with our Heavenly Father... they want everything good for us... everything that is the best and more... they tenderly care for us in such a different way than our mothers... you are able to feel of their love by there examples and in there sweet silent way... oh, how i love fathers!

brent gave a talk in sacrament meeting last week about what it means to be a father to him... and he spoke of how many people have asked him how he felt when jones was born... he responded to this question saying that he now understands more fully what love his parents have for him... in only this moment can one understand the great and wonderful love that a parent has for you as a child... it is one of the most miraculous things on this earth today... i fully agree with him... we all know that our parents love us... it is very clear in their day to day actions, but the moment that you have a child of your own and everyday afterward... when you can look at your child and see them grow... this is when you are able to sense the sweet and everylasting love that your parents have for you...

thank you dad, for the love you have expressed to me... in my daily life and throughout my life... i will forever remember the many things you have taught me, whether they be by word or by example... you have taught me so many things for this life and the life to come... you are one of the hardest workers i know and have taught me to be diligent... i also love that you have taught me how to have fun... i know it is important to work hard, but i love the moments of time that i can remember about playing hard... i have many fond and happy memories that we have shared... thank you for being my father, i could not ask for more!

brent also spoke of how his father taught him by example... i think this is one of the most important ways a father can teach his children... i know that brent has learned so many things from his own father... we love and respect him... i could not ask for a better father in law... he truley resembles love for his children and i feel as if i am one of his own daughters... thank you for being such a great father figure in my life and for brent in his...

i dont think brent even knows that i sing this song to jones... but i get very excited thinking of the day that jones will understand these words and will sing it with me... it is always one of my favorite childrens songs... it makes me remember when i was a child and thinking of how excited i would be when i knew my dad was coming home...

I’m so glad when daddy* comes home,

Glad as I can be;

Clap my hands and shout for joy,

Then climb upon his knee,

Put my arms around his neck,

Hug him tight like this,

Pat his cheeks,

then give him what?

A great big kiss.

thank you brent, for being a wonderful, kind, dearing and perfect father to our child and the other children that will come... we love you very much and hope that your first fathers day is all that you hoped it could be and more...

to the fathers in our lives... we love you very much!
