George Griffith Fether wrote "the name of a mother"...
The holiest words my tongue can frame,
The noblest thoughts my soul can claim,
Unworthy are to praise the name
More precious than all other.
An infant, when her love first came,
A man, I find it still the same,
Reverently I breathe her name,
The blessed name of mother
...i know that mothers day is not until tomorrow... but here in mexico, it is always the 10th of may... so that makes mothers day today and tomorrow for me... and not just because we are living here but because we have a american mexican child... ahha...
a few thoughts...
...what is mothers day... since this is my first official mothers day i was thinking about what this day means and how it is a little different this year... i hope that all mothers are being honored today, but also that they are able to step back and take a moment to realize what great accomplishments that they have in their lives... we are mothers. what a wonderful thing to be able to say! i knew that it would be wonderful, but as to this extent, i had no clue... what a wonderful feeling it is... and thus, i can now share a glimpse of what other mothers feel for their own children... the pride, the love and overwhelming joy that they are...
...i want my mom to know how much i love her, appreciate her, honor her and cherish her... she has been and is my lifetime friend and has taught me so much. i could not ask for a better mother! i know she loves me dearly and i hope and pray that my actions and deeds show how much i love her. you are a light in my life. you are a great example to me and such a beautiful person inside and out. thank you for being such an awesome mom, i could not ask for more. i hope this day is special for you!!!
... i want my mother-in-law to also know how much i love her... she is another woman in my life that i cherish and look up to in so many ways. i could not ask for a better mother-in-law. she has been such a great example to me and has produced a wonderful son, who i know loves her very much. when we were dating, one of the first things i noticed about brent was how he talked of his mother. i was able to see how he truly respected and honored her by not only his words but by his deeds. what a great compliment for a mother to have a son that shows how wonderful his mother is by the way he is treating her in person and by name without knowing that he is doing so. thank you for being who you are!
... i would love to list all the mothers that have influenced me and that i dearly love, but i would never be able to end this post if i were to do so... thus, i hope that all the mothers that i have met and that i have had the pleasantry of knowing, have a most wonderful and happy mothers day. may you all understand the great blessing you are in so many other peoples lives, not just that of your children, but of your childrens children, of your friends children, of your friends, of your friends friends and many, many more. thank you mothers for being such great examples! such wonderful rocks in a wavy uncertain world! such loving people!
... i will end this post with a quote from a very well written article by President Thomas S. Monson, "Behold thy mother". (you should read this whole article, it is really good!).
"May each of us treasure this truth: One cannot forget mother and remember God. One cannot remember mother and forget God. Why? Because these two sacred persons, God and mother, partners in creation, in love, in sacrifice, in service, are as one."
i hope each of us may love, cherish, enjoy and respect our mothers the way they should be loved, cherished, enjoyed and respected. with all our love, we wish the mothers of the world, and especially our own mothers, a very best and most wonderful mothers day...
...love you both, brent, errin and jones... xoxo...
