school days...

jones' first day of school was great! he loved it!

didnt even look back... put a sticker next to his name on the attendance sheet and then ran right in... i had to remind him to give me a hug!

after school we went for a family bike ride to find some ducks...

jones loved feeding them bread...

they loved jones...

his preschool teacher, miss paula, has a cute blog that she posts pictures and short notes about each day...

on wednesday september 14th ms paula wrote::

Heard at preschool today:

I asked Skye if she was going to sneeze. Jones wanted to know why I asked that.

I said it was because Skye had her hands covering her nose and mouth, so I wondered about sneezing.

Jones said, "When I sneeze, I just cover this . . . my . . . my blowers," and pointed to his nostrils.

Hilarious!

Heard today at preschool:

Kayla and Skye: Let's play mean girls.

Miss Paula: Um. I don't like that game.

K and S: We're just pretending!

MP: Still don't like it.

S: Princesses?

K: Fire princesses?

MP: Good choice.

Jones: I'm playing dinosaurs!

McKay: Rrrrooooaaaaarrrr!

Watched fire princesses fend off bad guys and dinosaurs the rest of the playtime. :)

It's tough out here . . .

birthday party in the dark...

the blackout...

kinda a crazy afternoon/evening...

we made the best of it...

we got out some candles so jones thought we were having a birthday party...

then we played with a lot of flashlights... and listened to our emergency radio...

and lucky for us our electricity turned back on at 9:30pm... so only a few short hours of no power...

crazy that times like that make you think... are you really ready for anything that could happen???

we are so thankful to all those who were able to come and be a part of her day!

sad that everyone had to leave so soon... the weekend went by way too fast!

some went to the beach while some went to legoland...

on august 27th 2011 ellis went for her first swim...

she loved it!

i here stories all the time about how i loved the water and you couldnt keep me away from it... especially at lake powell... so it is fun to see her love the water too...

a wedding, some fish and donuts...

my cousin jason was getting married... so we made a trip to utah for the special occasion...

first stop... a sinclair gasoline dinosaur in st. george...

we are a happy family...

the lovers...

a little background... they met in a college class... he didnt have his book... she did... they shared...

then...

he found out she worked at beyond glaze donut shop... he wanted her number... he doesnt like sweet things... including donuts... but he still wanted her number... he would go to beyond glaze and buy boxes of donuts at least once a week just so he could see her more than just class time... she finally wrote her number on one of the boxes of donuts...

then...

they got married...

and these are the CRAZY yummy donuts that we had to try since we heard their story...

our two favorites ::

a maple bacon donut...

i know... everyone thinks... ewwww... gross.... but it was seriously so so so good... close your eyes and now think of eating a yummy pancake... with maple syrup and delish bacon all at once... ok... now that is what this donut tastes like... its a breakfast donut and the p b & j can be for lunch...

ending the night by leaving the reception in the state troopers police car... jones was a trouble maker... or my uncle is a state trooper... which one do you think is true??

the next morning we went to visit my grandpa and grandma mikesell... more greats for my kiddos...

crazy to think about that there are four generations right there...

then we went up to park city for the afternoon...

jones with gramps...

going up the ski lift... jones was not at all sure about this... after we got off and hiked over to where the alpine slide started i put our car on the track and turned around to get him, to find that he was running back up the hill... he didnt want to go and wanted to ride the lift back down the mountain...

but by the end of the ride down the slide... he was ready to go again...

then he climbed another mountain...

and then a spiders web...

thanks to my aunt and uncle who let us come and hang out for the afternoon at their awesome condo in park city... we had fun swimming and going to dinner!!
