the party...

so like i said... i love a good creative outlet...

after much searching and many trips to many different stores we found lots of blue and green things for our dino party!!!

we have to have jones soda at a jones birthday...

thanks to my mom... 

we had the best tasting, made from scratch, oreo cookie cupcakes... 

and she found the dinosaur craft punch that all the stores i searched from were out of...

it was essential to have it ... the cupcakes would have lacked the dinosaur effect without the toppers i made...

and thanks to her for bringing all of her dishes for me to use!!!

three questions...

1.   who doesnt love an excuse for a party??

2.  who doesnt love dr seuss??

i love both... so we had a little green eggs and ham party for mr dr seuss...

jones loved it... however... owen was a little leery of eating the green bread and green gravy i made...

3.  whats a birthday party without a birthday song or birthday cake??

of course we sang happy birthday and everyone got to blow out a candle...

i promise this picture is not posed... everyone just had a good laugh...

brinca brinca...

i love when i find a good creative outlet... and so for jones birthday i did just that... i found a bunch of pictures online (thanks to google images) that i thought would be fun and this one below is the one jones chose and loved!  

he wanted a dinosaur birthday with white cake and a dinosaur... 

so this was my inspiration...

below is what really came out of it... 

i had fun!!!

and jones loved it... making it all worth while...

but first... his real birthday day...

we went with shauna, drew and sally to check out the 

agua hedionda lagoon discovery nature center... 

long name huh?!?!...

it wasnt quite what i had expected... very simple... but the kids loved it...

there were a ton of books and puzzles all about nature and we had the place all to ourselves... then we headed outside with the binoculars that the kids found and took a little nature hike...

jones loved it!!!

for his cake... of course he requested a cupcake... so thanks to grandma clark we made this huge giant cupcake... the thing was bigger than his head and falling over it was so huge!!!

he was so patient to wait until daddy came home so we could celebrate together... we opened a few small presents then for the big surprise...

brent held him and made him close his eyes...

then when he opened them i took this picture...

he was the happiest kid i have ever seen!

...it was so hard to keep him out of the backyard all day so that brent could be there for the big surprise... brent is the sweetest dad... spent over an hour in the freezing cold night setting it up so that as soon as he came home from work we could "open" his present together...

and here is his first jump!

he was in heaven!

then we met the "cuzzies" at "chucker cheese" for some playing and pizza...

i dont get it... but this was their favorite ride for like 20 minutes straight...

and then shauna and family spoiled him with more presents... a dinosaur that he had been wanting and  his very own pair of BINOCULARS!!!

it was a great day!

hamburgers and picnics...

today i had my 20 week ultrasound and we found out it is a hamburger...

those are the words of my doctor... i would never called 'it' a hamburger...

[smile]

so we are so beyond excited to be having a girl...

most that know me know that i said i wanted all boys and i didnt want to ever have to deal with the drama of a girl... brent WANTED a little girl!

plus... i already have everything boy... 

but when my doctor told me at 14 weeks that if she had to guess (from ultrasound pictures) she said, and i quote, "i would guess a hamburger... no hotdogs here"...

after that i tried really hard to not think about what she had said... even though at that appointment brent was the one to ask, "so... are the legs open enough to tell"???

slowly but surely i have been thinking more and more about how fun it would be to have a girl... let me tell you... crew-cuts for girls alone would make anyone want a girl...

but in all sincerity... this is how i feel today and i want to remember for always...

i feel so honored to be trusted with a little heavenly angel girl... i am beyond words of how excited i am and how lucky i feel to be able to be a mother to another wonderful child... i cannot wait to meet her...  i know that i love her sincerely so much already... it is crazy the strong bond i felt while lying on the ultrasound table and hearing the technician tell us that it is a girl... at first i was just in shock of finally knowing... then i knew that she will be such a dear and wonderful addition to our family... i tried hard to not let one tear out... but it didnt work and i have had a hard time the rest of the day keeping my eyes completely dry when i think of this moment -- its like i already know her... that we are going to share such a great bond and love... it is a true blessing... my Father in Heaven loves me so much...   in these moments we thought of a name and are now in love with the name :: eliot mae martindale

also loved:

 when we asked jones if he would like to have a baby sister... he immediately said... 

'yeah!!! and i can share my tools and tool box with her... and my trains.. and helicopter and airplane... yeah!!!!'

and brent said... 

'are you ready for this drama??'

[BIG smile]

after the longest ultrasound of my life was over... knowing that it was a girl and she was healthy and strong and perfect... still due july 9th... we went to the lake and had ourselves a celebratory picnic...

and then fed the ducks...

or at least tried... they wouldnt come very close...
