hawaii highlights...

star noodle... if you go to maui... PLEASE GO HERE! if you know us, you know that we are foodies... and we loved this place! star noodle makes their own noodles in house and everything we had was delicious!!!

our order:
brussel sprouts...
lahaina fried soup...
singapore noodles...
malasadas for dessert...

[we shared all this and it was perfect!! the brussel sprouts were cooked in kim chee and bacon... the lahaina fried soup was the best... huge fat noodles cooked with pork and bean sprouts... and the singapore noodles were vermicelli cooked with chicken, shrimp and vegtables... everything was so full of flavor and amazing... our dessert was good... but the malasadas in waikiki are WAY better... leonards should open up on maui too!]

"the nakalele blow hole"
we went on a few hikes... our first was to this blow hole... it is so crazy... i am not even that close so you cant tell how big it is... but depending on the time of day and the tides it will shoot 70 feet or more into the air...
next is one of my favorites of our trip...
we also hiked to the olivine pools... because of the way the the lava cooled in this particular area, it created some pools of water that are right at the edge of the ocean... they are a calm pool of water while the ocean on the other side is always very turbulent because of the wind on this side of the island... olivine = greenish colors... the water is all sorts of green hues... it was beautiful!
it was crazy the formations made from the lava craters... there were parts in the pools that were a foot deep and then there were parts 10+ feet deep...

our last day we went to another amazing food find... cane & taro... it was quoted to be "the best breakfast in maui"... we had to try it seeing that my favorite is breakfast... we were not let down! SO YUMMY!
these arent the greatest pictures... brent is not praying here... he was pretty done with picture taking after our road to hana day (that post is next... too big to include in this post) but i had to include them to remember how much i loved that breakfast... visit them here for better pictures and to see how awesome of an ambiance it was... we sat at the table in the right corner of the table picture... yeah... it was beautiful...

i ate...

STUFFED FRENCH TOAST SERVED WITH COCONUT SYRUP

THICK HAWAIIAN SWEET BREAD, STUFFED WITH FRESH FRUIT CREAM CHEESE, DEEP FRIED WITH MACADAMIA NUT CRUST. SERVED WITH BERRY COMPOTE, WHIPPED COCONUT CREAM & FRESH BERRIES

brent ate...

HUEVOS RANCHEROS CANE & TARO STYLE

On crispy Corn Tortilla, house-made refried Black Bean & Portuguese Sausage Rancheros Salsa with two eggs any style Topped with melted Cheese, Sour Cream & Pico de Gallo

(look for pictures #3 & #4 in the photo gallery)

...then we went SUPing right there on the beach... stand. up. paddle. boarding.
too bad i was way better than brent... so out of the 4 hours we rented the board... i used it for about 3 of them... i was in heaven... couldnt ask for a better last day... while brent was SUPing i would snorkel around him and i was so lucky to swim with giant sea turtle... sounds cheesy - i know... but i was so happy that the sea turtle let me hold his fin while we swam together... it was amazing!!! i also saw so many cool fish and eels...
brent...
me... in heaven...
